Luke Burbank
Luke Burbank, formerly of NPR and currently host of a radio show on 710AM, has recently moved back to Seattle and is a well known and sought after voice talent. While I was working evenings for a few months I listened to his radio show on my commute home. He has been in a few times in recent months to record different radio commercials and I have never had a chance to meet him. He is working on a big Alaska Airlines radio campaign (32 radio spots) and yesterday (Wednesday) I knew he was coming in so I decided when he came in I would introduce myself and tell him I listen to his show, etc etc etc. So Im sitting at the front desk yesterday (I'm learning to be a producer!) and I knew he was coming in at 12 so I prepared myself. The phone rings and its Luke Burbank calling to say he is on his way but hes going to be a few minutes late. I say okay I'll tell the right people that you're going to be late, and I hang up the phone. I'm all nervous now (I have no idea why...probably because Ive gotten myself all worked up over it) because I know hes coming in shortly. A little while later he WALKS through the door (late). He is adorable and in a rush and I panic and I lose all my words. All I can do is POINT to studio C. POINT? I didn't even say hi. I POINTED. I am an idiot. PS- not sure what made me want to write that out PPS- Learning to be a producer is SWEET. Who knew talent casting/music licensing could be so interesting and complicated? |

Our cat adoption facility has turned into a "small animal" facility. That means 10 bunnies, 2 guinea pigs, 2 rats, and a small white mouse. Unfortunately I have almost zero experience with rabbits and they have big teeth that scare me a little. Luckily, there is a chance we will get some of our cats back in the coming weeks. Hopefully whomever is making the decisions around here will make the RIGHT decision and bring back our cats. We've been averaging about 40-50 cats a month being adopted out of our small little storefront which I think is pretty great. Who likes bunnies, anyway? |

This week seems like it has been the week that will not die. Why did all the weeks leading UP to Christmas have to go by so quick and now, on the verge of a (potential) week off, the days seem to last forever? Also, you won't be surprised to hear that I am still not done with my Christmas shopping. Im not exactly sure what Im thinking Im going to do because I really have no ideas for the presents that I haven't gotten yet. Next week Clatter is "officially" closed but I will be on call all week in case something comes up. I HOPE nothing comes up because it would be nice to have a week off. I'll still be working at the Humane Society but that hardly seems like work at all. Tomorrow night we're going to a Sonics game which should be cool. Oh and the number one thing on my list this year is a UV Toothbrush Sanitizer. I can't wait to get it!!! |

Clatter Xmas
Clatter Xmas party at The Alibi Room was last night. We all got nice bonuses plus they gave away an ipod nano and an ipod touch (I won neither, of course). Unfortunately I had to wake up this morning and I feel totally sick. Open bar. But the food was really good...Wes and I got steak and salmon and split it right down the middle (but I got the green beans because he doesnt eat vegetables). We had a really good time and it re-enforced to me how much I want to stay with this company. |

Buying a condo is lame. Im glad Im never getting married because Ive learned how much of a pain in the ass Wesley's parents are and they would be even worse if it was legal (ie. I could never actually call her "mom"). It looks like we're going to just re-sign a year lease at our apartment and continue to look because we have like..12 days left to tell them we're leaving and we will never find a place before then. If his parents had no say in the whole thing, we would have moved into this really great place in Kirkland that we both loved (it had a HUGE deck and was across the street from a Starbucks). Unfortunately, if we want his mom's 30-50 THOUSAND dollars for our down payment....we need her approval. She is completely unrealistic about what we can afford. We're first time buyers, for gods sake! It doesnt have to be brand new! Im currently also unofficially keeping my eyes open for a new job so if anyone has any leads in the audio/video world, let me know! I have been feeling unusally sick as of late and am making an appointment with a specialist who hopefully won't agree with my GP that I need a colonoscopy. Im scared of medical procedures (especially ones that require laxatives). Too much information, huh. Okay, back to work! |

Happy November
Last night Wes, my mom and I went to Nightmare at Beaver Lake up in Sammamish. It was basically like a haunted house but it is a walk through a forest trail. The whole thing was pretty elaborate, all the actors were really good and they paid a lot of attention to the little details. As you walk down the trail people jump out at you and follow you. They even had two headless horsemen riding real horses (Im scared of horses, for the record). The whole thing from start to finish (we had to wait in line to get in) took about an hour and a half. We really got our moneys worth and it was tons of fun. In fact, Id say that was probably the most fun Ive had in quite awhile (which isn't surprising because I never do anything fun anymore). I definately know where Im going next Halloween. We're pretty sure we've found a place that we want to put an offer on. Its in Kirkland (Juanita) a couple blocks from the beach and down the street from Juanita Bay Park. The condo is a little bit smaller than we were looking for but we can make it work. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with a big kitchen (not that we need a big kitchen), gas fireplace, and a HUGE "entertainment deck" that provides a nice view. It is well within our price range and we should be able to get the price down even more. There are a few details to work out before we decide for sure if this is the place. It is a HUGE commitment and I don't know if Im ready, but it appears we're doing it anyway. Condo shopping has been a HUGE hassle and Wes and I have disagreed on a lot of things. I wish we could just rent forever. Hmph. Thats all really. |

| 12:01 pm |
It was a good weekend and that made it even harder to come back to work on Monday. On Saturday morning we saw Resident Evil Extinction which was actually really good and better than Resident Evil 2. Then we got home just in time to change and get ready for the symphony. Their whole performance was songs from science fiction with special guest GEORGE TAKEI (yes, from Star Trek). My favorite part was a collection of television theme music that included X-Files and The Jetsons. The whole thing was really really great and it really made me wish I could afford to see the symphony on a regular basis. After the Symphony and a short rest my parents picked me up and we went to see 3:10 to Yuma which, despite being about 20-25 minutes too long was actually a lot better than I was expecting it to be. Now its Wednesday and I'm working the closing shift at work tonight which is weird because I ALWAYS work mornings. Im starting work on a new freelance project- another music video for the same group I worked with before. Hopefully Ill be able to capture the tape today and start working on it tonight. I'd like to get it done as quickly as possible. Okay better go! |

Friday
I guess my stomach didn't like those leftover Baja Chicken Tacos from The Cheescake Factory because I felt so sick in the middle of the night that I hardly slept. So now Im running on somewhere between 3-4 hours of sleep and all I really want to do is just zone out until its time to go home. I think I have problems with low blood sugar (among other things) because I feel sick a LOT during the night and in the mornings. I'll just add that to the list of things that is wrong with me.... Otherwise, I'm reallllly glad its Friday. No plans this weekend besides a full day of football on Sunday. The weather is supposed to be gloomy which is a good excuse to do nothing. Did I mention Im in a Fantasy Football league? On paper I have a really good team but I lost my first game last week by 3 points because Steven Jackson (the number 2 overall pick in all of fantasy football) didn't do ANYthing. Luckily, I have two really great QBs to pick from (Tom Brady/Ben Worthlessburger) and some pretty good wide recievers who didn't perform up to where they should have week 1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some of my guys step up their game and don't disappoint me this week. It is SO disappointing to watch statistically good players suck. Anyway, I now have some DVDs to ship to Denmark so I must go! |

Why must I be home again?
Whistler=Good times. Wes and I drove up Monday morning-ish and got semi-lost. I took a route marked 1A when I should have just taken 1. Why even HAVE a 1A? I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets confused there. Anyway, we went hiking, eating, drinking, swimming, shopping, resting, sleeping, driving. Eli and Rachel (sister in law, also named Rachel) drove up on Tuesday night. It was fun to have the whole family there (minus the younger brother who really doesn't act like part of the family anymore). We laughed and played games and acted like a family. On the way home the border patrol harassed us and almost made me cry. I wish I knew the guys name because I want so bad to file a complaint. He was a huge prick. Coming back to work today after a whole week +1 day was haaaaaaaaaard. 6am came too soon. Not to mention that it was dark when I woke up. How will I survive the winter? Oh, and our xbox 360 is hooked up and fully functional. Also, Wes got a promotion to Test Lead at work. |

We're leaving for Whistler in a few days and I can't WAIT to take a vacation. I need one so so bad. If we can try really hard to just get along while we're gone we will have a really good time. We've been getting on eachothers nerves a lot the last few weeks but hopefully we can just relax in Whistler. |

This morning as I pulled the shower curtain back to get out of the shower, I looked down at my feet and saw a HUGE BUMBLEBEE in the tub. I tried to wake Wes up so he could kill it but alas, he wouldn't wake up. I locked one of my kitties (Yoshi) in the bathroom with the bee and she sat in the tub and played with it for about an hour while I got ready in the other bathroom. Im pretty sure it was still alive when I left the house but I grabbed Yoshi and shut the bathroom door. I hope it disappears by the time I get home....... |

Yesterday I....
Yesterday I.... *Celebrated my 3 year anniversary with Wes with a picnic and a trip to Funtasia for mini-golf, go karts, batting cages and arcade games. *Sat in a doctors office waiting room for 1.5 hours because apparently when I made an appointment no one put it in the appointment book. *Had blood drawn and an EKG done of my heart. |

Yesterday we went to the Mariners game with my parents and my companies season tickets are awesome (first base side terrace club level). We ate nachos (mmm), drank lemonade, and watched the Mariners lose. This heat is killing me and the kitties- our apartment is sweltering by mid-day and never really seems to cool down no matter how many windows we have open. Summer isn't as fun in a second floor apartment. My old boss at the Humane Society called me about a week ago and said they were thinking about re-opening the adopt-a-pet center and was wondering if I would be interested in working again if they do that. Wouldn't that be awesome if I got my job back with the kitties? Thats about it I think. |
